Lunch at Rockpool

Things I will miss when I start working in a full time corporate job :
1. Flexibility
2. Time with Miu Miu
3. Massages / facials at anytime of the day
4. Lunches with Prithi

Prithi and I both love to check out nice places to go out and eat at. We always have such a good time together! Recently, we went to the Rockpool to try out their bar menu. We love to share and so we shared all our food. We only have different taste in wine… she likes her whites! I only really like white when it is sparkling….

Anyway, this is what we had:

We started off with The Four Raw Tastes of the Sea. Starting at the top, it is Pink Snapper with blanched Cos lettuce and tea smoked oyster. Unsurprisingly fresh because it appears to be pink snapper season! Second is Ocrean Trout – which I love. It tastes similar to salmon (maybe because it looks it too) or perhaps I have unsophisticated tastebuds. One day I will do a proper comparison. The third is my favourite – Scampi ceviche style. I always love tanginess on raw fish and the crunch was a welcome. Finally, tuna with coriander and chilli (powder?).. It was all beautiful.

Here is the face behind the name – Prithi! She is such good fun I tell you.

Next we had the fresh tacos with pulled pork and guacamole. The pork was sooo soft, they must have cooked it for days! It was also spicy which resonated well with Prithi and I. It must be an Indian thing to want spice in everything!

The macaroni and cheese is not usually on the bar menu but can be made and taken over to the bar side. I had it before however my taste buds got lost in the feast I had the last time. This time I was able to taste it and appreciate it separately. I now know why everyone goes on about it. This crust of cheese on top totally complemented the creamy cheesy macaroni under providing a lovely crunchy texture. If I remember correctly, there are 4 cheeses in it and one is a secret surprising ingredient. Its such an indulgence, I don’t ever want to cook it for myself.  Very much like the next dish.

For dessert, we shared a peanut chocolate caramel tart with milk ice cream.

When you cut into the tart, caramel oozes out. Its so decadent. Strangely, I felt full after all that eating and could not dig into this dessert. Prithi on the other hand devoured it. Its amazing she remains so slim! The milk ice cream was nice – tasted like it was made on the premises. Very light and … milk-y. haha.

Later on, I requested for entry to the cabana area I saw from Nobu… and TADA… Nothing better than chilling out by the pool after 2 glasses of red wine and a good meal! Overall, it came up to $70 per person which was much less than what Prithi expected! So it was all good.
